home Parent’s Reviews of Camp SoundWaters Sea StarsMy son attended one session (summer 2008) at Camp SoundWaters and we were wishing we had signed up for more! The program runs very smoothly, counselors are energetic, educated and excited about there jobs. They truly participate with the kids. The program is not only fun but it is quite educational. I love the fact that each session is theme oriented and the children are all working toward a common goal. In the sea stars case, it was buoyancy and the kids were so excited to build their boat as a team while learning about the Long Island Sound and recycling.
Bluefish My daughter loved the program. She loves animals in general and has a fascination with water creatures; horseshoe crabs are her very favorite. The program was not only very educational but also fun; learning about facts of things that you adore was a highlight for her, she also enjoyed immensely being at the beach and swimming, she loved it so much that she wants to do it again this year and wants to have her birthday party there too. As a parent, the most important thing for me is safety in every sense of the word, I have to say that I felt very comfortable with the director of the program from day one, she was very reassuring, I knew I was leaving my child in a safe and well supervised program, it was also a pretty small group; good ratio - counselor to students, the counselors were fantastic.
Opti Sailing My son very much enjoyed his experience with the Opti Sailing program. The counselors were both patient and fun and had him doing sailing that he probably never thought that he could do!
Pixel Sailing We are very impressed with the Pixel program. Our son has been involved with SoundWaters for several seasons, first in the Discovery Camp and then in Pixels. Each year he asks for more weeks at Pixels. We like the hands-on nature of the program. Our son has learned sailing basics and gained confidence in his abilities. He enjoys the camaraderie of the class. The size of the student group and the number of instructors makes it a fun and safe activity. It would not surprise us if he returns to SoundWaters as a counselor in a few years.
