Rent the Center

The Perfect Coastal Venue

The SoundWaters Coastal Center is the perfect venue for a company outing, private or corporate reception or family day. Located at Cove Island Park in Stamford, CT, the Center overlooks Holly Pond, a tidal pond, with expansive views of Long Island Sound. The historic federalist-style, two-story building is the home of SoundWaters, a non-profit environmental education organization.

The Center offers an elegant but casual venue, with beautiful interiors, a wonderful front porch, back porch and large covered brick patio, suitable for 50-150 (with tent) people. Its ample backyard slopes down to the water and is an ideal location for a barbecue, lawn games or large tent if desired.

Accommodations

Center rentals, which help underwrite the cost of SoundWaters Education Programs, include a SoundWaters staff person on site, tables and chairs for up to 60 people, private use of a large parlor room, porches and covered patio and enjoyment of environmental exhibits, live salt water aquarium tanks, art and cultural exhibits.

Additional Activities

SoundWaters can arrange for two-hour naturalist-guided canoe trips in Holly Pond for 6 to 20 people. Cost is $24 per person. Also available are Interpretive Walks along the beaches and coastline of Cove Island Park.

Catering

SoundWaters has arranged with two professional caterers with shipboard experience to offer a choice of menu options for your event. Below are sample menus. Specific menu choices can be arranged with the caterer and pricing may vary with customized selections. Not included: Staff, delivery, glass rentals and china products/tablecloths, beverages, tax, gratuities. Or, you may bring your own caterer.

Menu 1 - Assorted Sandwich platter, side salads, dessert

Menu 2 - Entrée salads (cold salads mixed with chicken, meat or seafood), rolls and butter, dessert

Menu 3 - Entrée platters or roasted vegetables, chicken, shrimp salmon or sliced
filet, salads, dessert, rolls and butter

Menu 4 - Classic barbecue with coleslaw, pasta salad, potato salad, corn on the cob, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fixings, watermelon, dessert.

Menu 5 - Clam Bake with steamed clams, mussels, chowder, BBQ chicken, corn, potatoes, watermelon, bread-butter, watermelon, dessert.

$1,000 for weekday events (Monday to Thursday)
$1,200 for weekend events (Friday to Sunday)

Parking

Rental visitors to the SoundWaters Coastal Center are asked to park in the Cove Island Park lot and walk the short distance to the Center. Passes will be issued for vehicles carrying supplies or equipment to the Center. During the summer season, Memorial Day to Labor Day, all visitors to Cove Island Park must either have a City of Stamford beach sticker or a SoundWaters day pass. Call SoundWaters for details.

Insurance

Center renters are required to obtain a Certificate of Liability insurance policy for the date of the event, naming SoundWaters and the City of Stamford as additionally insured. Call (203) 406-3302 for information.

Land and Sea Option

The Schooner SoundWaters is also available for charter. You may split the day, combining a sail on the Schooner with a meeting or reception at the SoundWaters Coastal Center.
