Middle School Programs
During School Time | After School

During School Time:

Coastal Explorers; Grades 6-8
This two-part program begins with a visit from SoundWaters educators and a water quality lesson. Students spend time learning about Long Island Sound within the familiarity of their classroom. A field trip to the SoundWaters Coastal Center allows students to sample the water quality of Holly Pond while canoeing.

Physical Science on the Sound: Floating Classroom; Grades 6-9

Learn key concepts and theories while aboard the Schooner SoundWaters. Your students will test the water quality of Long Island Sound, demonstrate mechanical advantage, touch and investigate the structures of live animals and more! Specifically designed to exceed the CT and NY state core curriculum for middle schools, this 3-hour science enrichment sail is an unforgettable learning experience for you and your students in grades 6-9

Sea & Sand; Grades 6-8

Make a day of it! Sail aboard the Schooner SoundWaters, then enhance your experience with an additional two hours of programming at the SoundWaters Coastal Center.

After School:

Coastal Science Investigation: SoundWaters

Students become scientists racing to solve ecological mysteries in this unique 3-hour long after school program. Participants travel to a variety of field sites and learn all about the scientific method through hands-on experiments.
