About SoundWaters

SoundWaters is the #1 choice of schools for inquiry-based science education focusing on Long Island Sound. SoundWaters reaches an extraordinary number of school children through breadth, depth and innovation: Every year, over 15,000 students learn and explore through educational programs at SoundWaters. We create opportunities for students to learn by doing, aboard ship and at our coastal education center. We are the first in the state to study the population dynamics of the Diamondback Terrapin, providing real research for middle and high school students.

In addition, SoundWaters offers learning opportunities for people of all ages; aboard the SoundWaters, an 80’, three-masted schooner - public afternoon and sunset sails are offered from June - September; at the SoundWaters Coastal Center in Cove Island Park, open free of charge Monday - Saturday; and through our Business and the Environment Speaker Series, a timely and relevant lunchtime lecture series that includes topics on climate change, green building and more. We also offer private charters aboard the Schooner; private rentals at the Center, and Cabaret Jazz Nights, all designed to engage the public in the joy and wonder of Long Island Sound.
