SoundWaters Business & Environment Speaker Series
A partnership among corporations, small businesses and individuals committed to educating the business community and general public about cutting-edge environmental issues.

SoundWaters Business and Environment Speaker Series was formed in 2001, when SoundWaters moved to its headquarters at Cove Island Park in Stamford, in response to our belief that partnership between environment and business is critical to protecting the environment.

As an education organization, SoundWaters created a monthly Speaker Series, both provocative and informative, that provides cutting-edge information on alternative energy, sustainable development, green building practices, socially responsible investing, Long Island Sound issues and a host of other environmental topics relevant to the business community and of interest to municipalities, community organizations and the general public. Held monthly at corporate and academic locations, the series features experts from business, government and academia. We regularly attract 50-75 attendees, and at times, well over 100.

Critical to the success of this program is our energetic Committee, whose members represent multi-national corporations, small businesses, professional groups and individuals, including CL&P, Partners for Architecture, Purdue Pharma, Sikorsky Aircraft, Spaulding Landscape Architects, and UBS. The Committee meets monthly at the SoundWaters Center, at noon over sandwiches, to identify potential speakers and divide up the tasks of contacting speakers and scheduling programs for the Series. In addition, the committee helps organize other SoundWaters-sponsored seminars on important topics affecting the environment.

It’s an exciting time for the future of sustainability initiatives and for the Committee. We are always looking for new members.
