Pop quiz: What do diamondback terrapins eat?

If you guessed a bunch of things, you’re right. Specifically, they eat fish, snails, worms, clams, crabs and marsh plants. Diamondback terrapins’ powerful jaws are known to make a popping sound as they eats snails and other mollusks.

The hatchlings in SoundWaters nursery are currently on a diet of diced scallops, blood worms and dry-pellet turtle food loaded with vitamins and nutrients. Yum! Once a week, they get a special treat of silverside fish. The diet is formulated to help the hatchlings grow strong and maintain a healthy shell. They have big appetites, which is a good sign of health and growth.
